We introduce Carl — Zhang Haotian, an Interior Design student at HBU-UCLAN, trained end-to-end on the problem of putting humans into rooms they actually want to stand in. The model exhibits strong performance on plan drawing, material matching, and holding coffee while critiquing someone else's thesis.

A future-space explorer connecting design, brand, and technology.

W-01 · 2025Agrarian · chicken coop

"Wanderer" — a chicken coop that thinks it's a pavilion.

W-01 / AGRARIAN · PIN 739232 / 2025

Mother-hen geometry, on stilts.

Prefabricated modular timber frame with UV-resistant skin, elevated on treated wooden columns. Interior zoned for activity / egg-laying / storage; perforated baffles soften wind; pull-down egg boxes collect from the outside.

W-02 · 2026Furniture · AI-assisted

WOW Alternative Furniture — a lounge object for future interiors.

W-02 / ALTERNATIVE FURNITURE · 2026

Furniture as a small spatial system.

A furniture exploration that treats seating as atmosphere rather than a single object. Faceted surfaces, warm timber, and AI-assisted visualization test how furniture can hold posture, light, and brand-like emotion inside an interior scene.

W-03 · 2024Interior

A 26 m² apartment for a person with 27 m² of books.

W-03 / INTERIOR

Storage as architecture.

Full-height oak shelving integrated with structure.

W-04 · 2026Retail · pop-up

Retail Pop-up Pavilion — a glowing brand node in the city.

W-04 / RETAIL EXPERIENCE · 2026

Retail as an urban stage.

A compact retail pavilion designed as a visible urban attractor. Curved volumes, transparent edges, and halo-like lighting turn the store into a public-facing brand experience between office, dining, and street movement.

W-05 · 2025Exhibition · cultural narrative

Hidden Mathematics in the 24 Solar Terms — a Zhoubi Suanjing exhibition.

W-05 / ZHOUBI SUANJING EXHIBITION · 2025

Ancient mathematics as immersive space.

An exhibition translating Zhoubi Suanjing into four spatial chapters: Gougu geometry, shadow measurement, Qiheng diagrams, and Gaitian cosmology. The space uses modular blocks, light, interactive measurement, and astronomical imagery to connect traditional science with contemporary exhibition experience.

W-06 · 2026Landscape · water memory

The flattened river, made visible again.

W-06 / FUHE LOCK REGENERATION · 2026

An abandoned lock as public memory infrastructure.

After the Fuhe River was reorganized as modern park scenery, its working history slipped to the edge. This project takes the abandoned ship lock as its core, using spatial narrative, material contrast, and dynamic routes to re-expose hidden water-transport memory as an urban public experience.

Reviewer #1 · Accept

"The work demonstrates that a 21-year-old can, in fact, hold an opinion about a door. Recommend acceptance."

Prof. L. Thesis advisor · reluctantly impressed
Reviewer #2 · Weak accept

"I'm his mom. He cleaned his room once. The spatial sensitivity checks out."

Mrs. Zhang Conflict of interest: biological
Reviewer #3 · Accept w/ revisions

"Good kerning on the title slide. Recommend minor revisions: fewer black t-shirts."
